What Does the Office of Organizational and Skill Development Do?

The Office of Organizational and Skill Development (OSD) provides organizational and skill development services to the staff and the organization of the Connecticut Department of Social Services through a partnership with the UConn  School of Social Work. 

Our core services include:

  • Curriculum Development and Delivery
  • Organizational Development
  • Change Management Project Support
  • Media and Graphic Production
  • Web-based Development and Delivery

OSD practice methods include training and organizational needs assessments, instructional design based upon adult learning principles and actionable objectives, instructor led training, blended learning, interactive E-learning strategies, multicultural educational design, learn center management, facilitation, LEAN practice support, business process development and support, project management practices and support, strategic planning, coaching, mentoring, and evaluation metrics. 

OSD is a comprehensive training and organizational development area that customizes its services provision to DSS and its employees.

Access to OSD Services

OSD provides services to DSS and its employees.  Organizational and skill development services may be provided to DSS partner agencies when the services are required to support the fulfillment of the DSS Mission through a formal agreement between DSS and the partner organization.  OSD products like curriculum and plans are shared with approval of DSS.  Any employee may request services from OSD.  Requests for services are evaluated with DSS and prioritized for delivery.
