Racial Equity Training – Trauma Informed Care Racial Equity Lens Initiative

The Trauma Informed Care Racial Equity Lens Initiative is a racial equity training program intended to establish a consistent approach to trauma informed care and is a component of the Value Based Payments (VBP) Initiative. Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) providers who wish to qualify for the VBP must enroll their employees in the Trauma Informed Care Racial Equity Lens Initiative and have them complete a series of web-based classes by the specified dates over the three-year term of the Provider Value Based Payment Initiative.

The web-based training will run from December 2021 to March 2024. The web-based trainings will be added gradually to the website.  The initial DSS courses are:

The learning objectives for each of these areas of focus are:

  • Defining the focus area and how it is manifested in HCBS.
  • Recognizing how the focus area may be operating in the delivery of HCBS.
  • Applying strategies that can be used to minimize impact of the focus area on HCBS participants.

The HCBS ARPA Value Based Payment Initiative training component is available here. Please click on one of the courses listed on this tab. The selected course will open up and you may begin taking the course. Please be sure to complete each course in its entirety. At the end of each course, you will be navigated to a form. You MUST complete this form to be registered as compliant for each of the courses. Once you complete the form you will receive an email confirming successful completion of the course. This MUST be done for each course.

NOTE: If you exit the web-based training you may be able to return and start at the place where you left off. However, please do so on the same browser and device. When returning to the course, you will see a button at the bottom of the screen called “Resume.” Click on that button and you will be brought back to the place in the training before you left off.

NOTE: Due to the high volume of daily submissions, your confirmation email may take a few hours before reaching your inbox. It is not necessary to submit your confirmation email to us as we receive a copy.
