Connecticut endorses American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommended child and adolescent immunization schedule

Department of Public Health Commissioner Manisha Juthani backs AAP recommendations as state standard

1/27/2026

Hartford, CT – CT Department of Public Health (DPH) Commissioner Manisha Juthani, MD today endorsed the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) 2026 childhood vaccination recommendations announced yesterday.

“The AAP’s immunization schedule incorporates well-established, science-driven recommendations that physicians, public health officials, and parents can rely on to keep children healthy and communities protected,” said Commissioner Juthani. “These recommendations remain consistent with the current protocols we have relied on to protect Connecticut children and minimize the risk of preventable disease.”

Connecticut joins nearly a dozen professional medical societies across the country in embracing the AAP recommendations. DPH also affirmed the State’s commitment to the existing vaccine schedule for children and adolescents earlier this month. Connecticut, and fourteen other state members in the Governors Public Health Alliance, have elected not to adopt changes to the vaccine schedule proposed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“Public health policy in Connecticut will continue to be driven by the best available evidence-based research and data,” added Commissioner Juthani. “Our responsibility to the health of our residents requires nothing less.”
