DPH recognizes Public Health Thank You Day

4/06/2023

Dear Colleagues,

Every year on the Monday before Thanksgiving, public health organizations across the country recognize Public Health Thank You Day. This is an opportunity to recognize all the public health professionals who work tirelessly to protect the health and well-being of our communities.

All of you keep our drinking water clean, our communities healthy, and our children safe. The sheer number of challenges confronting our nation reinforce the value of what you bring to our public health workforce.

This year’s theme for Public Health Thank You Day is “Why Public Health?” which calls attention to the countless ways public health professionals work to promote and protect health. Whether it’s ensuring communities have access to healthy foods or tracking diseases to prevent the next outbreak, the public health workforce works relentlessly to make sure we all have the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives.

Your dedication cannot be overstated. Each of you play an essential role in ensuring the health and wellness needs of the residents of Connecticut. Our nation’s ability to live healthier, longer, and more productive lives rests on your dedication and your commitment to carry out numerous public health initiatives.

There is no better time of year to celebrate Public Health Thank You Day than during the days leading up to Thanksgiving. So, on behalf of Governor Ned Lamont and the entire Administration, Happy Public Health Thank You Day—your commitment to watching over communities is much appreciated.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Commissioner Juthani
