To be eligible for a lactation consultant license, an applicant must be certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).

Applications are only accepted online. Please select this link to apply online. To apply online you will need to register a new account, create a user ID and password and validate your email address.After you create your account, select the ‘Generate Email’ button.The system will send you an email with instructions on how to sign in. After sign in, select ‘Initial Application’ tile and expand the ‘Public Health Practitioners’ grouping.Select ‘Start’ to the left of ‘Lactation Consultant’ license type and complete the application.
The application fee is $200.
As part of the application process, you will be prompted to upload a photo of yourself and a copy of your current IBCLE certificate.Note that only IBCLE certificate holders are eligible for this license.
