Community Public Water Systems are asked to report any and all storm impacts that threaten the ability to provide safe and adequate water service by calling the Department of Public Health Drinking Water Section staff at 860-509-7333 or after hours at our emergency number 860-509-8000.
Public water systems with sources of water supply, treatment and pumping facilities water distribution systems that are in areas near the shoreline or in low lying areas at risk of flooding are strongly reminded to do the following:
1) Inspect and monitor, as frequently and safely as feasible, all water supply facilities to ensure operations
2) Ensure that your storage tanks are full or kept at full capacity
3) Ensure that your back up source of water supply, if any, is operational
4) Inform your customers that in the event water discoloration, unusual taste or odor, or low water pressure is noticed then boiling water, or bottled water, is advisable
Once again, please use the Department of Public Health number at 860-509-7333 during normal office hours or 860-509-8000 after hours to report any emergency situations or request assistance. The same notification should be made to the Emergency Management Director in the appropriate jurisdictions.
