Recreational Shellfish Growing Area Contacts, Status Hotlines, and Maps

  • Connect with nature and bring home dinner with a recreational shellfish permit!
  • Individuals are responsible for purchasing recreational shellfish permits, calling the hotline daily before harvesting, and understanding the recreational areas and boundaries.
  • Recreational areas are subject to reclassification, which may modify the areas certified for harvest, and temporary closures following rainfall events. 
  • Harvest limits vary on a town-by-town basis. Please contact the Town where you wish to shellfish for further information. The 2020 Guide to Shellfishing Along the Coast of Connecticut is a useful reference for permit fees, harvest limits, and contact information.
