(HARTFORD, CT) – The Connecticut Department of Agriculture (CT DoAg) invites the public to comment on the proposed program structure for the Farmland Restoration, Climate Resiliency & Preparedness (RRP) Grant in 2027. The public is asked to submit written comments on the RRP Program and the topic prompts by Monday, August 24, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. EST. The input received will be considered when developing final program structure for 2027.

ROCKY HILL, CT - For a third straight year, Connecticut’s veteran farmers and agricultural producers came together on the grounds of the Connecticut Department of Veteran Affairs to host the third annual CT Veteran Grown Farmers’ Market on August 6, 2026. The annual event supports the CT Veteran Grown Initiative - funded with Congressionally Directed Spending through the U.S. Small Business Administration. Hundreds of attendees came to support Connecticut’s veteran agricultural community and artisans by purchasing an array of fresh fruit and vegetable produce, baked goods, flowers, eggs, maple syrup, jams, poultry, and other unique offerings - all grown or made by Connecticut’s Veteran Farmers and Makers.

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Connecticut Agriculture Commissioner Bryan P. Hurlburt, and the members of Connecticut’s Congressional delegation today announced that the Connecticut Department of Agriculture has received a fully executed agreement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture establishing a $52.9 million Farm Recovery and Support Block Grant for eligible Connecticut farmers who experienced losses in 2023 and 2024 due to severe weather events that impacted the state during that period.

HARTFORD, CT — The Connecticut Department of Agriculture (DoAg) is sharing information to help consumers better understand how produce safety is managed on farms across the state. While cases of Cyclosporiasis have been reported in Connecticut, at this time there is no indication that Connecticut farms are the source of this outbreak. The recent attention on Cyclospora has led many residents to ask how fruits and vegetables are grown, handled, and inspected. Connecticut farmers welcome these questions and take pride in following established standards designed to protect the food they grow.

HARTFORD, CT — The Connecticut Department of Agriculture (CT DoAg) announces that it has processed more than $11.8 million in Dairy Stabilization Payments to 64 dairy farms across the state. This funding is part of the $22.5 million authorized by Governor Ned Lamont from the state’s Federal Cuts Response Fund to provide immediate relief to dairy farmers. Another $3 million is planned for distribution in October, and the new Dairy Farming Sustainability Working Group convened on June 26 to shape long-term recommendations.
