• Connecticut Boating Advisory Council

  The Connecticut Boating Advisory Council was formed to help in improving communications between the boating public and the Conservation and Preservation Division of the DEEP; to delineate problems that affect all users of marine and inland water recreation areas; and to assist the Conservation and Preservation Division of the DEEP in solving problems in connection with Connecticut’s boating related land and water resources.

• Aquatic Life Impacts of Phosphorus Research

  The CT DEEP Monitoring Group is engaged in several efforts to study the effects of phosphorus in water bodies. This webpage provides information on the monitoring efforts, results and analysis conducted by the Monitoring Program.   Following the Executive Orders issued by Governor Lamont and the guidelines set forth by the CDC to establish social distancing and limit non-essential contact, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) will temporarily close its office locations, including its headquarters at 79 Elm Street, Hartford, effective March 17, 2020 to public visitors as a precautionary measure to mitigate the spread of Coronavirus.

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that Charles Island in Milford and Duck Island in Westbrook will be closed to the public from now through September 9, 2019 to prevent disturbances to nesting birds.

• Grant Funds Available for Marine Pumpout Programs to Protect Waters of Long Island Sound

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that it is seeking grant proposals from owners and operators of public or private marine facilities on Long Island Sound and Candlewood Lake for the installation of a new marine sewage disposal facility (MSDF); facilities with existing MSDFs in need of substantial repairs or upgrades; and from those seeking funding to operate new or existing MSDFs, including pumpout boats and central vacuum pumpout systems which are incorporated within the marina or boatyard dock system.

• Visitor Center at Dinosaur State Park Undergoes Much Needed Infrastructure Update

  (HARTFORD) – Starting Tuesday, March 1, 2022 through September 1, 2022, the Visitor Center at Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill will be closed to undergo much needed infrastructure modernization with a complete replacement of its heating and air conditioning system. This infrastructure project is just one example of the myriad needs within Connecticut’s State Park system. Once the overhaul of this antiquated HVAC system is completed around summer’s end, the Visitor Center will re-open for indoor public visits and viewing of the trackway of dinosaur footprints.

• DEEP Accepting Applications for Microgrid Projects Grants and Loans Available to Provide Power to Critical Facilities

  Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that funding is now available for a new round of microgrid projects aimed at providing power for critical facilities – such as municipal government public safety and wastewater treatment facilities as well as grocery stores, hospitals, cell phone towers, and buildings serving as shelter – during times when the electric grid goes down.
