Comprehensive Evaluation of Connecticut’s Cleanup Laws
Message to Stakeholders
The Department began its Comprehensive Evaluation and Transformation of Connecticut’s Cleanup Laws in 2011. This resulted in the Remediation Standard Regulations and the Environmental Use Restriction Regulations each being updated in 2013 and 2021. The Evaluation and Transformation efforts culminated in the adoption of the Release-Based Cleanup Regulations in 2025.
The Department would like to thank all of the stakeholders for their participation in the process of transforming the State's cleanup laws and regulations with the goal of achieving more cleanups more efficiently and effectively. The Department greatly appreciates the efforts and time spent by all stakeholders on this complex topic.
