Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Rocky Neck State Park is also closed until further notice due to a brush fire. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level.     Notice of three minor air quality regulatory amendments to add the Environmental Protection Agency's 2015 national ambient air quality standard for ozone, remove an affirmative defense provision, and clarify the use of calculations in Connecticut's air quality regulations. Written comments are due by November 13, 2024. A public hearing was not requested by October 29, 2024, therefore the public hearing originally scheduled for November 12, 2024 has been cancelled.

    Notice of comment period on three proposed SIP revisions related to the reclassification to severe nonattainment in the southwest Connecticut nonattainment area for the 2008 ozone national ambient air quality standard. Written comments will be accepted through November 6, 2024. A public hearing will be held on November 5, 2024 in a webinar format.
