Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Halloween Scavenger Hunt at Osborne Homestead Museum, Derby

Have a Phantas-tic time at the Osborne Homestead Museum with a special Halloween scavenger hunt and tour on Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Hear the gruesome tales of the museum’s artworks, such as the gory legend of Queen Tomyris who beheaded a Persian king!  Find icky treasures, herbs from the witch’s garden, ghoulish gourds, and more on the museum scavenger hunt!  Have a frightfully fun start to your Halloween weekend at the museum!!  The tour and scavenger hunt are appropriate for all ages.
The Osborne Homestead Museum, located at 500 Hawthorne Avenue off of Rte. 34 in Derby is a facility of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.  It is open for free guided tours through October 29, 2017 on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Holiday tours will begin November 24.  For additional information call (203) 734-2513 or email donna.kingston@ct.gov.
