Connecticut EV Data Analysis Tools
Connecticut's transition to EVs is an essential strategy toward the state's commitment to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities and achieving our state-wide clean air goals. Connecticut has seen tremendous growth in EV registrations since the launch of the Connecticut Hydrogen and Electric Automobile Purchase Rebate (CHEAPR) in 2015.
Below are some of the tools that show the growth of EVs in Connecticut's.
EValuateCT Dashboard
The EvaluateCT dashboard is a tool that compiles statistics on the electric car market, including where registrations are, what makes and models are most popular, and more. Users can drill down for more or details, and the maps and charts are interactive. DMV data is typically updated biannually (January and July).
EValuateCT also incorporates additional data from U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Census Bureau, and other sources to provide information about demographics of communities with high electric car ownership, where charging station are located, and more.

CHEAPR Statistics
The CHEAPR Statistics webpage offers interactive access to program. This data provides a variety of information about the adoption and distribution of electric vehicles in Connecticut. Not all electric vehicles in Connecticut will be captured in the CHEAPR database as some models are ineligible for the program and some owners do not take advantage of the program. In addition to key statistics about CHEAPR, this data offers incentive distribution data filtered by zip code, city.
Program statistics are updated on a monthly basis and do not reflect current available funding amounts. As the CHEAPR program administrator, the Center for Sustainable Energy promotes the production and use of electric vehicles through consumer rebates, outreach and education.

CT EV Registration Factsheet
DMV has an agreement with DEEP to share DMV vehicle registration data to analyze and evaluate the current demographic makeup of Connecticut's vehicle population. According to CGS 14-12(l), DMV is required to share the number of EVs registered in Connecticut each year. DEEP uses the vehicle registration data to perform the annual transportation conformity and to monitor the Connecticut EV population.
DEEP receives two biannual registration datasets covering the January 1st – June 30th and July 1st – December 31st reporting periods. The DMV registration data is comprised of protected personal information and is not made available to the public. However, DEEP uses the biannual registration information to create and make available the EV Registration Factsheet which does not include any protected personal information.
