CPRG Clean Corridor
Connecticut Climate Pollution Reduction Clean Corridor Grant
Summary
The Clean Corridor Coalition will bring nearly $250M to the mid-Atlantic region for electric medium- and heavy-duty vehicle charging. The Clean Corridor Coalition is a multi-state effort to deploy medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle charging infrastructure for freight electrification along the I-95 corridor and adjacent roads from Connecticut to Maryland. The Clean Corridor Coalition was awarded a $249 million grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program in July 2024.
The coalition is led by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Delaware Department of Transportation, Maryland Department of Transportation, and Maryland Department of the Environment.
The Clean Corridor Coalition (C3) will fund infrastructure for zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, provide technical assistance to charging sites, deliver training and provide support services to establish a skilled workforce, conduct meaningful community engagement, and enable planning by states and stakeholders along the corridor.
The corridor from Connecticut to Maryland is one of the most densely populated freight corridors in the United States. Cutting air pollution from trucks in this region could improve quality of life for millions of people, including by reducing particulate emissions that can exacerbate childhood asthma and cardiovascular disease.
