Who is considered a guest at a club?

Club permits (LIC, LPC, LCA-Golf Club) may only serve alcoholic beverages to members and their guestsAll guests must be signed into a guestbook by the member accompanying them.  

  • Members are people who have fulfilled the club’s membership requirements, such as paying dues or fees and agreeing to follow the club’s rulesThe member must have formally accepted membership to the clubMembership implies a formal relationship with the club, which can include financial contributions, participation in the mission and organization, and voting rights or ability to participate in selecting leadership.  

  • Tiers of membership are allowed at clubs, including spousal and family privilegesThese kinds of privileges are not available to the general public and are tied to a specific memberLiquor Control always defers to the club’s definition of membership, even if secondary. 

  • A guest is anyone who is not a member or who doesn’t receive spousal or family privileges from a memberMore broadly, guests are members of the general public not otherwise affiliated with club or granted membership privileges.
