Are there any distance or parking requirements for liquor permits?

The state has no limits on the distance between any type of permit premises and no requirement that a permit premises have a certain number of parking spaces.  Similarly, the state has no limits on the placement of a permitted premises near school zones, churches, or recreational areas. 

  • Example: There is no state rule that package stores must be at least 1,250 feet from each other.  

  • Example: There is no state rule that restaurants must have five off-street parking spaces.  

  • ExampleThere is no state rule that package stores must be 500 feet from a school zone. 

 

However, many local cities and towns do have these rules.  Please check for the town in which your permit premises is located to determine if there are distance requirements or parking requirements.
