If you anticipate your business being closed for thirty (30) or more days, please put your permit in voluntary suspension status. Voluntary suspension freezes your permit; you cannot use it to sell or serve alcohol. You may renew your permit once while in voluntary suspended status (and you must renew it to keep it in good standing). If your permit is not removed from voluntary suspension before the second renewal, it will expire.
There is nothing punitive about a voluntary suspension; the Liquor Control Division does not broadcast voluntary suspensions or highlight them in any way. It is simple a tool to keep your permit in a “frozen” status while your business is temporarily closed.
