Yes. Telemarketers must have your express written permission before contacting you with a sales call or text message.

In other words, you have to opt in and give written consent. For example, by signing a form or checking a box online, allows them to call or send marketing texts. 

It is against the law if a telemarketer calls or texts you without written consent. According to the law’s definition of a “telemarketing sales call,” includes messages through apps (like SMS texts or WhatsApp), not just phone calls. This means telemarketers need your consent to reach out in those ways as well.
