Do telemarketers have to identify themselves during a call?

Article
Read time: 6 minutes

Yes. The law requires telemarketers to identify themselves and the nature of the call almost immediately.

Within the first 10 seconds of a telemarketing call, the caller must clearly tell you who they are, the fact that it's a sales call, and the name of the company or organization they are representing.

Telemarketers are not allowed to disguise or falsify their caller ID information. The phone number and identity that show up on your phone must be truthful.
