What services does BRIDGE CT (Building Resilience Independence Dignity Growth and Empowerment) offer children and youth with disabilities?

BRIDGE CT, an innovative initiative led by Connecticut’s Department of Aging and Disability Services, is aimed at supporting children and youth with disabilities in achieving independent living, self-advocacy, and competitive integrated employment within Connecticut’s growing career pathways.

About BRIDGE CT:

BRIDGE CT aims to reinforce partnerships and align transition services with key stakeholders to maximize support, resources, and access to career pathways for children and youth with disabilities, including those from underserved populations. The program focuses on professional development opportunities, collaboration, and early access to transition resources and services to ensure successful outcomes.

What type of services does Bridge CT Provide?

The following services and trainings will be provided through the Bridge CT Grant:

  • Self-Advocacy
  • Peer Mentoring
  • Financial Literacy

Who can participate?

Designated Middle School or High School personnel will speak with potentially eligible students who would best benefit from BRIDGE CT. These individuals would be Children ages 10-14 and Youth aged 16-22.

How are services delivered?

Services are provided directly within the classroom during the school day. In addition, services could also include resources for families outside of the school day including partnerships with Centers of Independent Living, CPAC, Workforce Development Boards, and other resources within the community.
