BRIDGE CT is a program from Connecticut’s Department of Aging and Disability Services that helps children and young people with disabilities live independently, speak up for themselves, and find good jobs in growing career fields in Connecticut.
About BRIDGE CT:
BRIDGE CT works to build strong partnerships and connect important people to provide the best support, resources, and career opportunities for children and youth with disabilities, especially those from underserved communities. The program offers training, teamwork, and early access to helpful services to help young people succeed.
What type of services does Bridge CT Provide?
The following services and training will be provided through the Bridge CT Grant:
- Self-Advocacy
- Peer Mentoring
- Financial Literacy
Who can participate?
Designated staff at middle and high schools will talk with students who might benefit the most from BRIDGE CT. These students include children aged 10 to 14 and youth aged 16 to 22.
How are services delivered?
Services happen right in the classroom during the school day. Families can also get help outside of school through partnerships with places like Centers of Independent Living, CPAC, Workforce Development Boards, and other community resources. Goals of BRIDGE CT:
