The Mathematical Shifts: A Three-part Webinar Series

This webinar series will focus on the three shifts of focus, coherence and rigor. The intent is to take a deep dive into the instructional implications of each shift by providing activities for participants to fully understand the shifts necessitated by the Connecticut Core Standards for Math. This three-part series has been recorded so that districts can utilize the webinars as part of their professional learning programming.

Focus This webinar provides a closer look at the shift of focus required by the Connecticut Core Standards for Mathematics. It highlights the two level of focus in the standards and had embedded activities that will aid in the understanding of the shift of focus.
Coherence This webinar provides a closer look at the shift of coherence required by the Connecticut Core Standards for Mathematics. It highlights the coherence both within and across the grades and has embedded activities that will aid in the understanding of the shift of coherence.
Rigor This webinar provides a closer look at the shift of rigor required by the Connecticut Core Standards for Mathematics. It highlights the three components of conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application. The embedded activities aid in the understanding of the shift of rigor.
