• Gov. Malloy Announces Opening of New Train Station in Wallingford That Will Serve the Hartford Line

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) Commissioner James P. Redeker and numerous federal, state, and local officials to celebrate the grand opening of the newly constructed train station in Wallingford. Located at 343 North Cherry Street, the station will immediately begin providing service to existing Amtrak trains and soon will begin serving trains on the CTrail Hartford Line, the passenger rail service currently under construction and scheduled to launch in the middle of next year that will provide commuters with more frequent train service between New Haven, Hartford, and Springfield.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Connecticut’s Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) has deployed 13 state troopers as part of Connecticut’s ongoing efforts to assist in Puerto Rico’s post-hurricane recovery efforts. The troopers, 12 of whom are fluent in Spanish, will be patrolling and providing security and traffic assistance in conjunction with the local police in Puerto Rico. The crew departed Bradley Airport early Monday morning.

The 14-member group was created as part of the bipartisan state budget that Governor Malloy signed into law on October 31 and will be responsible for developing and recommending policies to achieve state government fiscal stability and promote economic growth and competitiveness within the state.

  Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) resurfaced a total of 260 two-lane miles of roadways this construction season. Approximately 55 two-lane miles of that amount was completed under CTDOT’s Pavement Preservation Program, which includes crack filling, surface patching, drainage repairs, and other rehabilitation work to extend the life of existing roadways.

Malloy today announced that in anticipation of temperatures over the next several days that are forecast to be bitter cold with negative wind chill factors at times, he is activating the state’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol beginning today and remaining in effect through Tuesday, January 2, 2018. This is the first time so far this winter season that the protocol has been enacted.
