On March 15, 2010, the Connecticut Department of Public Health was awarded $7.29 million in funding from the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.
At that time, the DPH entered into a four-year Cooperative Agreement with the federal Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).
The Cooperative Agreement outlines how these federal funds will be used to develop, implement and sustain statewide capacity for a Health Information Exchange (HIE) and meaningful use of electronic medical records.
