• DEEP’s ParkConneCT Program Offering Free Bus Transportation to No Child Left Inside® Summer Events

  (HARTFORD) — The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s ParkConneCT program is pleased to offer free bus transportation for two No Child Left Inside events: Dino Day at Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill on Saturday, August 3, 2024, and Saltwater Fishing Day at Fort Trumbull State Park in New London on Saturday, August 10, 2024. DEEP is offering two pick up locations for each event.

  (HARTFORD) – The Governor’s Council on Climate Change (GC3) today issued its Phase 1 Report, Taking Action on Climate Change and Building a More Resilient Connecticut for All, which assesses the state’s progress toward mitigating carbon emissions and addressing climate change adaptation and resilience, and outlines 61 near-term strategies to meet these challenges.​

  One of the key pollution prevention recommendations in the State’s PFAS Action Plan was to discontinue use of PFAS-containing firefighting foam where possible. This page describes requirements of the 2021 Act Concerning the Use of Perfluoroalkyl or Polyfluoroalkyl Substances in Class B Firefighting Foam, which includes efforts to develop a 'take back' program to recover PFAS-containing firefighting foam from municipalities, to identify PFAS-free foam replacements, and to develop guidance for decontaminating fire apparatus that previously contained PFAS-containing foam.

• Reserve Your Seat With New DEEP & CTDOT ParkConneCT Excursions Program

  (HARTFORD) – The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) are pleased to announce a new focus for the collaborative ParkConneCT program. This program will now offer free bus transportation for special excursion trips to four designated events, including three popular No Child Left Inside® (NCLI) events during this summer season. These hands-on, guided excursions will use motorcoach buses that are ADA accessible and air-conditioned to provide convenient and comfortable transportation to pre-scheduled park activities and events. The new special excursion format replaces the special summer bus service to select parks offered in past years.
