  • Notice of Intent of Two Revisions to the State Implementation Plan: Periodic Emissions Inventory Year 2014 and 2017

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) hereby gives notice of intent of two revisions to the SIP to satisfy the requirements of sections 172(c)(3) and 182(a)(3)(A) of the federal Clean Air Act (CAA). Each revision to the SIP is a Periodic Emissions Inventory (PEI), one for year 2014 and one for year 2017, to satisfy inventory requirements for the 2008 and 2015 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone. The State of Connecticut is classified as nonattainment for the 2008 and 2015 ozone NAAQS and must therefore submit a periodic inventory of ozone precursors every three years. These two Periodic Emissions Inventories will be submitted to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for review and approval as revisions to the SIP. Written comments are due no later than 4pm on January 26, 2024. A public hearing was not requested by January 4, 2024, therefore the public hearing originally scheduled for January 23, 2024 has been cancelled.
