Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Rocky Neck State Park is also closed until further notice due to a brush fire. Please note that today's forest fire danger report remains at a 'very high' or 'extreme' level. More information about the current fire danger, burn ban and recommended safety measures can be found here

2024-2025 Vendor Replacement Tag Deer Check Stations

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Deer hunters are NOT required to bring their deer to a check station, unless they wish to obtain replacement tags in deer management zones 11 and 12. During all deer seasons, hunters must report their harvests via the Department's website or by calling 1-877-337-4868 within 24 hours.

Replacement antlerless and either-sex tags will ONLY be valid in deer management zones 11 and 12 (Private Land Zone Map). To be eligible to obtain replacement tags, hunters must present their antlerless deer (carcass or head) at a Replacement Tag Deer Check Station and a completed deer harvest tag with a confirmation number. All deer must be brought to a check station within 72 hours of harvest. Hunters must report their harvest online or by phone BEFORE going to a check station (with their deer).

Reminders

  • Consult the Department's website or the current Connecticut Hunting and Trapping Guide for information on deer tagging regulations and procedures.

  • The listed hours apply only to the 2024 and January 2025 deer hunting seasons.

  • Because of scheduling changes that may occur, the Wildlife Division suggests you call your intended check station pre-season to verify their hours.
