Scoping Notices

Scoping Notices have been issued for the following state projects.  These projects are in the earliest stages of planning.  At the scoping stage, detailed information on a project's design, alternatives, and environmental impacts does not yet exist.  Sponsoring agencies are asking for comments from other agencies and from the public as to the scope of alternatives and environmental impacts that should be considered for further study.  Send your comments to the contact person listed for the project by the date indicated.

 
 

1. Notice of Scoping for Interim Maintenance Facility, New Haven Rail Yard

Municipality where proposed project might be located: New Haven, CT

Address of Possible Project Location: New Haven Rail Yard, New Haven, CT 

Project Description:The purpose of the proposed action is to construct a 43,000 square foot interim railroad car maintenance facility in the southwestern side of the New Haven Rail Yard.  The facility will be heated and included work pits for maintaining the cars.

2. Notice of Scoping and Meeting for Bristol Downtown Revitalization Project

Municipality where proposed project might be located: City of Bristol

Address of Possible Project Location: North Main Street, Riverside Avenue, Main Street

Project Description:The City of Bristol is embarking on a long term project to revitalize the downtown area, which includes the redevelopment of the Bristol Centre Mall site. The State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) is working with the City of Bristol to evaluate the site through an Environmental Impact Evaluation (EIE) as required by the Connecticut Environmental Policy Act (CEPA) CGS Sec. 22a-1. 

A scoping meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday January 12, 2005, at 7:00pm, Council Chambers, Bristol City Hall, 111 North Main Street, Bristol, CT. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit comments on the prospective project that will be considered with the EIE.

EIE Notices

The following Environmental Impact Evaluations have been completed by state agencies and are available for review and comment. 

1. EIE Notice for Tolland Sanitary Sewers

Municipality where project is proposed:  Tolland

Project Description: The project involves the construction of sanitary sewers in the Town of Tolland from the wastewater pumping station on Old Post Road, along Route 195 from the intersection of Old Post Road southeasterly across Interstate 84 to the intersection with Rhodes Road, for the purposes of both environmental protection and economic growth. Wastewater from the proposed service area will be collected by gravity and low-pressure sewer and conveyed to the pumping station on Old Post Road. From there it will be conveyed to the Town of Vernon Wastewater Treatment Plant, where it will be treated and discharged into the Hockanum River.
