State to File Civil Complaint, Dissolution Action in Doc Hurley Scholarship Foundation Investigation
The state will file a civil complaint against the executive director of the Doc Hurley Scholarship Foundation seeking civil penalties and injunctive relief for the alleged use of charitable funds for personal expenses, Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Attorney General George Jepsen and state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said today.

The Department of Consumer Protection and Office of the Attorney General continue to receive complaints and inquiries from consumers worried about telephone calls in which the caller claims to be an official from the IRS and attempts to solicit tax payments.

State Joins $3.8 Million Multistate Settlement with Sirius XM Radio
Attorney General George Jepsen and the state Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein today announced that Connecticut has joined 44 other states in a $3.8 million settlement with Sirius XM Radio Inc. that resolves claims that the satellite radio company engaged in misleading advertising and billing practices.

The Office of the Attorney General, at the request of the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, is joining the Federal Trade Commission to file a Complaint and Consent Orders in U.S. District Court against TicketNetwork, Inc., a Connecticut-based ticket resale company, its wholly-owned subsidiary TicketSoftware, LLC, and two companies that are part of TicketNetwork's Partner Program, Ryadd, Inc. and SecureBoxOffice, LLC.

State Joins Global Settlement with Novartis Pharmaceuticals to Resolve Kickback Allegations
Attorney General George Jepsen, Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane and state Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby announced today that Connecticut has joined a global settlement with Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation ("Novartis"). The settlement resolves allegations that Novartis provided kickbacks to certain specialty pharmacies in exchange for recommending the drug Exjade to Medicaid and Medicare patients. Novartis has paid the states and the federal government $390 million to resolve these allegations.

Attorney General George Jepsen, Chief State’s Attorney Kevin T. Kane and state Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Roderick L. Bremby announced today that Connecticut has joined a federal-state settlement with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, LP and Cephalon, Inc. to resolve allegations that the companies inappropriately overcharged state Medicaid programs for drugs. AstraZeneca, a London and Delaware-based pharmaceutical manufacturer, has paid the states and the federal government $46.5 million to resolve allegations against the company. Cephalon, a Pennsylvania-based subsidiary of Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries, Ltd., has paid the states and the federal government $7.5 million to settle similar allegations.
