Medication Administration Certification
Pursuant to Special Act 17-21, which directed the Departments of Children and Families (DCF), Developmental Services (DDS), and Public Health to perform a Lean process to streamline and standardize the process by which certain types of facilities are licensed by these state agencies, a subcommittee was convened to review and revise the existing process by which DCF, DDS and DPH train and certify unlicensed personnel who assist with medication administration in the state agencies’ licensed facilities. The process has been divided into two phases: (Phase 1) the uniform interagency medication administration training online curriculum and exam and (Phase 2) agency-specific certification and onsite practicum.
The training will be piloted late January of 2002 and it is anticipated it will be live in March of 2022.
