About RSCO
Your Future, Your Choice.
The Greater Hartford Regional School Choice Office, or RSCO, has a motto: Your future, your choice. Families in the Greater Hartford Region have the power to make a choiceabout where their student attends school. Through RSCO, families choose a free, public school outside their home district that provides the academic challenge and specialized instruction to set students up for success for the future.
Who RSCO is: RSCO is the office established by the Connecticut State Department of Education to help families access school choice opportunities in the Greater Hartford Region.
What RSCO does: RSCO manages the application and placement process for magnet schools, the Open Choice Program, and Hartford technical high schools in the greater Hartford region.
Through the RSCO online application, families apply to magnet schools, Open Choice districts, and Hartford Region Technical High Schools (part of the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS)). RSCO sends families placement information about their school choice selections beginning in February for CTECS applicants and in March for magnet school, Open Choice and CTECS selections.
How RSCO helps families: RSCO is the centralized resource for information to support families as they explore and apply to unique, high-quality, public prekindergarten through grade 12 school choice options in the Greater Hartford region.
