Foreword


Following the enactment of Conn. Gen. Stat. §10-16vv, the CSDE developed and organized two committees: the Native American Advisory Committee and the Native American Steering Committee. The Native American Advisory Committee is made up of tribal representatives from each of the five recognized tribes of Connecticut. The committee members provide resources and content expertise.

The Native American Curriculum Steering Committee includes a diverse group of tribal representatives and educators from a variety of backgrounds. The Native American Curriculum Steering Committee provides strategic direction and guidance on the creation of appropriate and engaging content to assist schools in implementing Section 10-16vv. These groups have contributed to the creation of the curriculum materials that appear in this document and will be involved in the creation of upcoming professional development.
