The reservation of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation is located in North Stonington.  In 1637 (after the Pequot War) the Pequots divided into the Eastern Pequots and the Western (Mashantucket) Pequots. The reservation of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation was officially recognized in 1683.  Members of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation are very proud of their tribal heritage; tribal members pledge to “protect our sovereignty, consume and develop our tribal resources and promote the self-sufficiency of our people and our descendants.”
