Title I, Part A is the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) largest K-12 grant program. It provides supplemental funding to LEAs to help schools improve learning outcomes for underserved students.

The purpose of Title I is to provide all children “significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps (Every Student Succeeds Act, SEC. 1001. [20 U.S.C. 6301]).

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) provides subgrants to Local Education Agencies (LEAs). These funds can support a wide range of activities to help Title I students meet state academic standards and provide a well-rounded education.

The CSDE is committed to supporting districts in the use of these funds to improve educational outcomes for students.
