The CT Pathways to Integrated Employment project (CTPIE) will create support, services, and training to help participants working or looking to work in subminimum wage jobs achieve and keep jobs in a competitive integrated employment setting. BRS and their CT partners will develop pilot services and system changes in areas like: CTPIE Messaging & Outreach, CTPIE Individualized Supports, and more.
Customized Employment (CE) is an alternative method of finding competitive integrated employment that matches the strengths, skills, and abilities of individuals with significant disabilities with the needs of employers. It is a highly structured and personalized process. CE is comprised of three (3) primary phases: Job Discovery; Job Development, Negotiation and Placement; and Post-Employment Supports. CE is a collaboration between the Dept of Developmental Services (DDS), Aging and Disability Services (ADS) and CT State Dept of Education (CSDE) to expand these services across CT.
Sometimes additional assistance is needed to do the job. That is where Assistive technology (AT) services can help. We can help identify the Assistive Technology devices, services or accommodations you may need on a job and work with you and your employer to put those in place. We can also help you access adaptive equipment for mobility, communication and work activities to address your disability-related barriers. AT services can include AT device demonstrations, AT device loans, AT evaluations and training along with guidance around requesting ADA accommodations at work.
BRS can also assist with vehicle modifications to provide individuals who have no other way to get to and from their job.
Need modifications at home? We can help with minor home modifications to assist you in getting in and out of your home to get to work.
Services to assist in restoring or improving a physical and/or mental impairment may include items such as hearing aids, prosthetic devices and more.
