Background:

This funding opportunity supports initiatives to improve interactions between police and youth.  The goals of the program are to promote positive youth development and to increase the numbers of police officers who are experienced and comfortable working and interacting with youth.  Local public agencies may apply for funds to increase or enhance opportunities for youth and police to work together to benefit their community.  This initiative is offered by the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee with funding provided by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention at the U.S. Department of Justice and is administered by the Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Division of the Office of Policy and Management.

Who may apply?

The eligible applicants for Police and Youth Program funding are local public agencies.  Eligible applicants may apply for one time funding of up to $10,000 for the twelve-month period of July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017.  Typical agencies applying under the Police and Youth Program are police departments, youth services bureaus, and schools.

Applications are due at the State of Connecticut, Office of Policy and Management, Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Division, 450 Capitol Avenue – MS#52CJP, Hartford, CT  06106-1379, Attention: Valerie LaMotte by 12 noon on Monday, April 18, 2016.  Electronic and facsimile transmissions are not acceptable.  One original and one copy of the application must be received at the address above by the due date (delete instruction pages; use all white paper; clip together, do not staple; no folders, binders, etc.).

Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee School Attendance Program- Request for Applications (RFA)

Background:

This funding opportunity supports school initiatives aimed at improving school attendance and helping Families With Services Needs.  The focus is to provide children with positive reinforcement that promotes school attendance rather than emphasizing the need to reduce truancy, suspension and expulsion.  Grants are available to eligible school districts to fund efforts to make attendance a priority, establish effective attendance policies and support the implementation of the School Attendance Model Kindergarten Program.  This initiative is offered by the Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee with funding provided by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention at the U.S. Department of Justice and is administered by the Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Division of the Office of Policy and Management.

Who may apply?

The eligible applicants for School Attendance Program funding are local and regional public school districts that are members of the Connecticut Consortium on School Attendance as of April 8, 2016.  As of February 15, 2016 the following 26 school districts are members of the Consortium.
