Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will tour storm damage in East Haven, Connecticut tomorrow. Following the tour, Secretary Napolitano will join Gov. Malloy for his Emergency Operation Center (EOC) conference call with agency commissioners, and attend the Governor's press availability.

Gov. Malloy, Insurance Commissioner Praise Carriers for Waiving Hurricane Deductibles
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Insurance Commissioner Thomas B. Leonardi today announced that the Administration has been working closely with the insurance industry in wake of Tropical Storm Irene to address the issue of higher-cost hurricane deductibles that may be applied for some damages on coastal properties. As a result, the majority of the companies that write homeowners policies in Connecticut, including the Travelers and The Hartford, will be waiving the higher cost deductible.

At the request of Governor Dannel P. Malloy, the Federal Highway Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation is making available to Connecticut $1 million in Emergency Relief Funding for clean-up and bridge and roadway infrastructure repairs as a result of Hurricane Irene. The Connecticut Department of Transportation will have immediate access to the funding stream to pay for clean-up costs and for damages incurred to the roadway network as a result of the powerful storm.

Gov. Malloy: State FEMA Offices Transition into SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that seven of the state’s eleven FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will soon be transitioning into Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) at their current locations. Because of low volume, the Danielson, Storrs-Mansfield and Old Saybrook DRCs will permanently close, and the Greenwich DRC will move to a new location in Bridgeport.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, on behalf of the State of Connecticut, will hold a memorial service for the state’s victims of September 11, 2001 at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. The sculpture made in part from aluminum cladding from the World Trade Center will also be unveiled, honoring those the state lost.

On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the keynote address at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA) Municipal Bond Summit in New York City. The summit will be attended by those in the municipal securities industry, including broker-dealers, regional dealers, issuers, municipal advisors, letter of credit banks, portfolio managers, institutional investors, rating agencies, credit analysts, and internal and outside counsel.
