Governor Nancy Wyman released the following statement in response to a bipartisan vote today in the General Assembly's Transportation Committee to approve a resolution he introduced that will enact an amendment in our state's constitution protecting transportation funds from being raided and used for other purposes.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded the unanimous, bipartisan approval in the General Assembly's Public Safety and Security Committee of legislation he introduced that strengthens the blood alcohol limits for carrying a firearm as well as for hunting while under the influence.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Awarded Over $2.5 Million in Federal Funds to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment in Health Centers
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today applauded an announcement made by Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell that over $2.5 million in federal funding has been awarded to seven health centers in Connecticut to improve and expand the delivery of substance abuse services in health centers, with a specific focus on treatment of opioid use disorders in underserved populations.

Gov. Malloy Speaks with Sentencing Commission, Urges Adoption of Second Chance Proposals
With the Sentencing Commission meeting today, Governor Dannel P. Malloy urged the General Assembly to adopt Second Chance 2.0 legislation he introduced that builds upon reforms approved last year, which are designed to continue reducing the state's decreasing crime rate, as well as ensure nonviolent offenders are successfully reintegrated into society.

Gov. Malloy: Small Business Express Program has Supported 1,500 Companies to Expand and Create Jobs
Governor Dannel P. Malloy, joined by Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) Commissioner Catherine Smith, today announced that the state's Small Business Express Program (EXP) has reached a new milestone. With an economic toolkit the state did not have prior to the Governor's administration, more than 1,500 Connecticut companies have been supported by the program, helping create and retain over 22,000 jobs.

Gov. Malloy: Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of First Lady Nancy Reagan
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that - in accordance with a proclamation from President Barack Obama directing flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of First Lady Nancy Reagan - U.S. and state flags in Connecticut will fly at half-staff beginning immediately until sunset on the day of interment.

Gov. Malloy: SAT Exam to be Used in Place of the 11th Grade Test for the First Time Wednesday
Governor Dannel P. Malloy and State Education Department Commissioner Dianna Wentzell said today that starting on Wednesday, the State of Connecticut will begin using the SAT in lieu of an 11th grade Smarter Balanced - or SBAC - exam.
