Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Sending Crews to Assist with Snow Clean-Up in DC and Maryland
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is sending crews and equipment to Washington, DC and Maryland to assist with snow removal and clean-up from last weekend's historic snowfalls. The crews - comprised of about 30 workers in all - will leave Connecticut tonight at midnight and be on the job Wednesday morning.

Gov. Malloy Announces State's Use of Lean Tools Makes Government More Responsive and Efficient
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that over forty state agencies have become more cost-effective and efficient in the past year thanks to a program he initiated in 2013. The program, LeanCT, has improved service delivery and saved taxpayers money. The changes are detailed in the 2015 report to OPM Secretary Ben Barnes by LeanCT Program Director Alison Fisher.

Gov. Malloy Appoints Scott Jackson to Serve as Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Labor
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he is appointing Scott Jackson of Hamden to serve as Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL). In addition, Kurt Westby of Middletown will serve as Deputy Commissioner of the agency.

Gov. Malloy Announces Dennis Murphy to Serve as Acting DMV Commissioner
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Dennis Murphy, who currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Labor (CTDOL), will serve as Acting Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) until the Governor makes a selection for a permanent Commissioner of the agency.

Gov. Malloy Statement on Supreme Court Ruling in Juvenile Sentencing Case
Governor Dannel P. Malloy released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling today that juveniles previously sentenced to life without the possibility of parole are covered retroactively by a 2012 court decision that banned the practice going forward. Last summer, the Governor signed into law legislation proposed by the Connecticut Sentencing Commission that made these sentencing changes in Connecticut that the Supreme Court is now mandating nationally.

Gov. Malloy, Congressional Delegation Announce $54 Million Federal Grant for Storm Resiliency in Connecticut
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein and members of the state's congressional delegation to announce that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has approved a $54 million grant the state applied for that will be used to improve shoreline infrastructure and increase resiliency to combat future weather events.

Gov. Malloy: State Makes Significant Progress in Expanding Access to Quality, Affordable Housing
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today joined Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) Commissioner Evonne M. Klein to highlight the strides Connecticut made in 2015 to expand access to quality, affordable housing and reduce homelessness. Last year marked an extraordinary year for housing creation in Connecticut, with the state helping to create, rehabilitate, and preserve 11,881 total housing units statewide. Since the beginning of the Malloy administration in 2011, the state has provided funding to build 17,897 housing units across Connecticut.

Gov. Malloy: Connecticut Seeing Record High Wage Growth
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that wages for Connecticut residents have reached record highs. According to the most recent Department of Labor data, Connecticut's private sector wages have risen nearly $4 per hour since 2007. During that span, weekly wages for residents, on average, have increased by about $130 per week since - a 15 percent increase. The data shows that 2015 wages are the highest at any point ever reported.
