Governor Dannel P. Malloy this afternoon requested that President Barack Obama declare a pre-landfall emergency in Connecticut. This declaration allows the state to request funding and other assistance in advance of the storm hitting the state.

Gov. Malloy Closes State Parks, Campgrounds in Advance of Hurricane Irene
Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that all Connecticut State Parks will close at sunset on Saturday due to the approach of Hurricane Irene and that all state park campgrounds will close at noon on Saturday unless weather conditions dictate an earlier closing. State Parks and campgrounds will remain closed until further notice.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today launched a website dedicated to keeping state residents up-to-date on Hurricane Irene, its potential track, and the work the state is doing to keep residents safe. All pertinent information will be posted online and can be accessed at ct.gov/irene. In addition, state agencies have a link to the information on the front page of their websites.

Governor Malloy Encourages Storm Preparedness During Hurricane Season
At the onset of hurricane season, Governor Dannel P. Malloy is reminding Connecticut residents and businesses to prepare for storms that could impact Connecticut. The Governor is leading a call with the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP) and state agency heads tomorrow morning to receive an update on Hurricane Irene and preparations for any related bad weather.

Wednesday: Gov. Malloy Attends CCSU Groundbreaking, Continues Jobs Tour in Lebanon and Windham
On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend the groundbreaking ceremony at Central Connecticut State University for the new Academic Building on the campus. The building, a part of the CSUS 2020 project, will provide a permanent location for classrooms and offices related to the school’s Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Geography, and History departments.
