  • 9/29/2011 Friday: Gov. Malloy, Jackson Laboratory to Announce Major Collaboration

    On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith, University of Connecticut President Susan Herbst, University of Connecticut Health Center Interim Vice President for Health Affairs Philip E. Austin, and Democratic and Republican legislative leaders will join executives from Jackson Laboratory to make a major announcement regarding a collaboration in bioscience in the state.

  • 9/28/2011 Governor Malloy Reminds Residents and Businesses to Register with FEMA

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today reminded residents and businesses that suffered damage or losses during Tropical Storm Irene that they must register with FEMA to begin the disaster assistance process. Registering with FEMA is critical, as it begins the process of evaluating for what assistance – FEMA, SBA or other programs – Connecticut residents may qualify.

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Team Organized for the Review of Management of Irene (S.T.O.R.M. Irene) assessment team will hold its first meeting at the State Capitol on Wednesday to begin its review of the preparedness, response and recovery efforts of the state and its partners – including the utilities and municipalities – related to Tropical Storm Irene.

    On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the keynote address at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s (SIFMA) Municipal Bond Summit in New York City. The summit will be attended by those in the municipal securities industry, including broker-dealers, regional dealers, issuers, municipal advisors, letter of credit banks, portfolio managers, institutional investors, rating agencies, credit analysts, and internal and outside counsel.

    On Saturday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Congressman John B. Larson, Senator Richard Blumenthal and Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra will guide U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on a tour of the Coltsville Historic District in Hartford and discuss with him their efforts to have the site designated a National Historic Park.

  • 9/22/2011 Gov. Malloy: State FEMA Offices Transition into SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that seven of the state’s eleven FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) will soon be transitioning into Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) at their current locations. Because of low volume, the Danielson, Storrs-Mansfield and Old Saybrook DRCs will permanently close, and the Greenwich DRC will move to a new location in Bridgeport.

    On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give a speech at an international insurance regulation symposium hosted by SNR Denton law firm and the University of Connecticut School of Law titled, “International Insurance Regulation in a Post-Crisis Environment: Perspectives from the US, the EU, China and the Middle East.” The Governor will speak about the insurance and financial services industries in Connecticut, and will be followed by a speech from Connecticut Insurance Department Commissioner Thomas Leonardi.

  • 9/21/2011 Gov. Malloy Joins New England Governors to Urge Level-Funding for Home Heating Assistance

    As the New England states prepare for the upcoming winter months, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the governors of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island today sent a letter to Congressional leaders urging that federal funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) be maintained at the level last authorized of $5.1 billion.

    Continuing on his Jobs Tour, on Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give the keynote address at the Connecticut Hedge Fund Association’s Global Alpha Forum, where he will speak about his efforts to grow jobs and strengthen the business climate in the state. The forum is the hedge fund industry’s annual summit, providing business development opportunities and insights to those in the industry.

  • 9/20/2011 Gov. Malloy: Construction Begins on Criminal Justice Information System

    Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the state has signed a contract with Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), a Xerox company, to build the state’s new Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), a tool to help criminal justice professionals enhance public safety.
