Here are the Connecticut Long-Term Care Ombudsperson Program we are a dedicated team of advocates who work to protect the rights and improve the quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities, including nursing homes and assisted living facilities. We know first hand that testifying during legislative sessions can be a daunting and challenging experience, particularly for vulnerable residents who may not have access to the resources they need to advocate for themselves. This often includes the large challenge of accessible transportation to get individuals to the state capital in order to make their voices heard in person.

However, we believe that every resident deserves a voice and that their opinions and experiences can help shape policy decisions that improve the quality of care and services in long-term care facilities.

Have you ever wondered how we are able to get residents to the LOB to self-advocate and testify? We are fortunate to have the Patricia V. Gore Memorial Fund.

The memorial fund was created in honor of Patricia Gore, a mother and an original ‘essential caregiver’ Patricia’s dedication and tireless advocacy inspired her daughter to create this fund in honor of her legacy. Our plan is to keep it going forever with donations from the public as well. All donated funds provide support for residents with transportation to legislative events, policy discussions and other specifically focused events in Connecticut. It is continuously funded by generous donations from individuals and organizations who share our vision of empowering residents and ensuring that their voices are heard.

To apply for funding, residents or their advocates can contact our program directly or work with their regional ombudsman to access these resources. Our team will work closely with residents and their advocates to ensure that they have the support they need to make their voices heard during legislative sessions.

Similarly, if you want to make a difference in the lives of residents in long-term care facilities or want to help them share their stories and advocate for their rights and needs? If so, we also invite you to donate to the Patricia V. Gore Memorial Fund. Your donation will help us provide us the ability to help empower residents and ensure that their voices are heard, even in the most challenging of circumstances. No amount is too small or too large. Every dollar counts and every donation makes a difference.

All donations can be directed to:
