DSS COMMISSIONER BARTON REEVES APPLAUDS NEW LAWS
EXPANDING HIGH-QUALITY CARE & RESOURCES FOR SENIORS

(HARTFORD, CT) – Commissioner Andrea Barton Reeves joined Governor Ned Lamont and various stakeholders today at Caring Connection in Windsor for a bill signing of HB 5781 and HB 6677. Both bills received unanimous bipartisan support in both the House and Senate.

Commissioner Andrea Barton Reeves said, “Today, the State of Connecticut put statements to action: ‘we support our seniors!’ Both bills signed will provide vital resources to our state’s seniors, and I am honored to have had a seat at the table when discussing these changes.

By establishing a set of fiscal checks and balances for nursing homes, we will ensure residents receive the high-quality care they not only need, but deserve. I am also excited to share that we set course for the future by laying a programmatic foundation for increased accessibility to adult day services in the community, which has been, and will continue to be, a collaborative conversation with the Legislature’s Aging Committee.

As we continue our work, I want to also recognize and thank the Aging Committee Chairs Representative Jane Garibay and Senator Jan Hochadel for their continued advocacy and work to provide high-quality care and resources to Connecticut Seniors.”
