Third Party Bulk Filers (TPBF)

Important information for current TSC users: myconneCT uses a pre-defined comma separated value (csv) file format. The layout is the same as TSC Dynamic Web Import default layout. However, if you made any modifications to the layout, you will need to update your file.

myconneCT is a state-of-the-art system for Third Party bulk filers (TPBF) to file, view and manage multiple customers under one login.

Bulk filers have two methods of filing and paying for clients:

1. Third Party Access (formerly Single Client Key and Send for your clients)
2. File Import
      a. Pre-defined Comma Separated Value (csv)
      b. DRS Standardized File Format (EFW2/1220 Fire Format)

Third Party Access (formerly Single Client Key and Send for your clients)

Third-party access provides a secure and convenient way for users to manage accounts for other businesses in myconneCT. Tax preparers, payroll providers, and other professionals can file returns and/or make payments on behalf of a taxpayer or access a taxpayer’s account information for other authorized purposes.

This option allows you to key in the information for your clients, one at a time. With myconneCT you will manage all of your clients with one logon. Once you create your own username and password, you can gain access to each of your client’s accounts through a brief authentication process. In the coming months, the department will provide more information on how to sign up and get started on myconneCT.

File Import -- Pre-defined Comma Separated Value (csv)

Submit a file upload using a pre-defined comma separated value (csv) file format. To upload a file using this method:
Prepare an Excel spreadsheet with your clients figures:

  • Each column should represent a line item from the return you are reporting.
  • Each row should represent a return.

Arrange the columns in the correct order and verify the layout matches the pre-defined Comma Separated Value before uploading the file through myconneCT.

Once uploaded, the file will be reviewed for errors in real time. If the file is accepted, you will receive a confirmation number for your records. If the file fails, you will receive a list of the failed records with an explanation. Simply correct the file and resubmit. There is no limit on the number of upload attempts.

Submit a file upload using the standardized file format as defined in the CT Annual Wage Informational Publication and Annual Non-Wage Informational Publication. Typically, this type of file is generated by accounting / payroll software.

These publications contain filing instructions and specifications on how to prepare W-2s / 1099s wage and non-wage data files in accordance with Social Security Administration’s (SSA) and the Internal Revenue Services (IRS). Payroll and tax reporting software developers must follow these file formats when submitting wage data files electronically to DRS.
