CT DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING REFRESHES ITS BRAND

(HARTFORD, CT)—Leading up to its 2nd annual Connecticut Housing Conference in October, the Department of Housing (DOH) has launched an updated brand identity designed to better reflect the department’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusive housing opportunities for all Connecticut residents.

“We are really happy to have a fresh look and feel, one that emphasizes our vision and more of what we do,” said Connecticut Commissioner of Housing Seila Mosquera-Bruno. “Our mission is to provide affordable housing options for residents of all incomes. We are increasing first-time home ownership, developing new units, rehabilitating and converting existing properties, speeding up our internal processes, refining our homeless support network, working with municipalities on their plans, and doing everything possible to drive our goal of an inclusive, intergenerational and sustainable future for housing in Connecticut.”

In addition to a reflection of Connecticut’s iconic shape, the new logo integrates symbolic elements such as multifamily units, community green spaces and individual homes. The color palette features shades of blue and green, carefully chosen to represent the balance between Connecticut’s ionic shoreline and its thriving urban environments. The blue aligns with the long-standing color values associated with the state, while green reflects a commitment to environmentally conscious development.

Central to the logo design is a series of varied housing elements, symbolizing the diversity of housing solutions available throughout Connecticut. At the center of the logo is a small, single-residence structure representing the individual homes that form the foundation of our communities. Surrounding are multiple forms of housing, depicted through both vertical and horizontal window shapes, symbolizing the variety of multi-unit options that serve different communities.

Miranda Creative, Inc., a Norwich-based brand management agency with more than 35 years of experience creating impactful and meaningful visual identities, collaborated with the internal communications team at DOH for the rebranding effort. In the coming weeks, the new logo and brand identity will be integrated across all DOH materials, communication platforms, and the upcoming Connecticut Housing Conference being held at the Convention Center on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in Hartford.
