Public Information Officer:
Andrius Banevicius
The Office of Public Information supports the agency mission by ensuring that information concerning department activities is presented in a timely, proactive and professional manner.
The Office is responsible for both the agency's external communications with the news media and the public as well as internal communication with the agency's more than 6,500 staff who are located across the state.
During the course of an average year approximately 7,000 inquiries from the news media and public are fielded via both the telephone as well as over the Internet.
Public Information Officers continually endeavor to provide the news media with interesting, timely and informative stories about the operations of the agency. The Office also produces the Department's bi-weekly newsletter, "PRIDE at Work", and the agency's annual report.
Through its presence on the Internet at www.ct.gov/doc the Department seeks to provide the families and friends of inmates, as well as the general public with an easy to navigate, transparent view of the agency. The Office of Public Information, in association with the agency's Management of Information Services Unit, also oversees the internal DOCWEB Intranet site which seeks to keep agency staff informed of agency information and events.
