This unit is responsible to provide centralized direction and technical assistance throughout the agency to include: management of the capital budget and plan; project design, approval and management; facility preventative maintenance; and repair.

Recently completed projects include building an outdoor firearms training range, conversion of a vacant building to a housing unit at the Gates Correctional Institution, roofing the main building at the Brooklyn Correctional Institution, and installation of improved body alarms at the Hartford Correctional Center.

The unit coordinates the recycling program of the Department of Correction, recycling over 1,310 tons of cardboard and similarly large numbers of plastic, glass and cans.

The unit also coordinates compliance with OSHA standards and environmental guidelines.
