Pet Facility License
Pet Shop “Pet shop” means any place at which animals not born and raised on the premises are kept for the purpose of sale to the public;
Training Facility “Training facility” means any place, other than a commercial kennel or grooming facility, which is maintained as a business where dogs are trained;
Grooming Facility “Grooming facility” means any place, other than a commercial kennel, which is maintained as a business where dogs are groomed;
Commercial Kennel “Commercial kennel” means a place maintained for boarding or grooming dogs or cats, and includes, but is not limited to, any veterinary hospital which boards or grooms dogs or cats for nonmedical purposes;
Animal Shelter Facility is any private entity that operates a building or facility that is used to house dogs and cats for the purpose of rescue or adoption and that is not operated within a private residence. Shelters or rescues housing livestock or poultry may contact the department at (860) 713-2504 or agr.svcs@ct.gov for import requirements if bringing in livestock or poultry from out of state, and guidance and best practices concerning livestock and poultry disease control.
