Emergency Burn Ban In Effect 10/26/24 - An emergency burn ban is now in effect for all Connecticut State Parks, Forests, and Wildlife Management areas, prohibiting the use of all outdoor grills, firepits, and campfires, and the kindling and use of flame outdoors. DEEP and local agencies are working to contain several active fires across the state. Please avoid all affected State Parks and Forests, as well as the blue-blazed Mattabesett Trail. The Enduro Trail in Voluntown and portions of North Stonington within the Pachaug State Forest are closed at this time. Project Description:
The Department has prepared a draft permit and has made a tentative determination to issue an Air State Facility permit for Peckham Materials Corp. The permit renewal includes a cap on emissions of Oxides of Nitrogen, Sulfur Dioxide, and Carbon Monoxide to keep emissions below major source thresholds. Changes to the permit includes the addition of 6 NYCRR Part 220-3 conditions, which involves additional emissions testing. Major components of this facility include crushers, conveyors, and screens as part of a processing plant. Also, onsite is a hot mix batch asphalt plant with a rotary dryer and baghouse. By acceptance of this permit, the permittee agrees that the permit is contingent upon strict compliance with the ECL, all applicable regulations, the General Conditions specified and any Special Conditions included as part of this permit.

Persons wishing to inspect the subject files, including the application with all relevant supporting materials, the draft permit, and all other materials available to the DEC (the "permitting authority") that are relevant to this permitting decision should contact the DEC representative listed below. DEC will evaluate the application and the comments received on it to determine whether to hold a public hearing.
