Notice of Updated Forest Resource Management Plan Mohawk State Forest
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Division of Forestry, gives notice to adopt with final approvals a Forest Resource Management Plan for the 3,735-acre Mohawk State Forest in Cornwall, Goshen, and Litchfield, Connecticut. The plan, which was informed by a comprehensive inventory as well as local municipal and stakeholder input, will guide forestry and wildlife habitat management activities for the next 15 years (2026 – 2041). Long-term planning goals include strategies to adapt to climate change, to grow and sustainably harvest wood products, to diversify forest age and size classes, to improve forest access roads, to designate Old Forestland Management Sites, and to enhance and protect significant wildlife habitat, including invasive species management. An infographic highlighting the recommendations in the plan has been prepared for public review.
