DEEP Launches Online Celebration of EarthDayEveryDay

Launches digital campaign ahead of 50th Anniversary of Earth Day on April 22nd

In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, DEEP is launching a digital campaign, #EarthDayEveryDay, where residents can find unique ways to celebrate and help preserve our planet while staying safe at home or in the outdoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the next month, DEEP will be sharing ideas from its Twitter account, @CTDEEPNews, with the hashtag #EarthDayEveryDay, consisting of conservation-minded things people can engage in inside their homes, in their own backyard, their neighborhood, or elsewhere in the outdoors.

#EarthDayEveryDay will provide ideas for how to spot wildlife, what plants to grow to help pollinators, how to reduce waste and how to be greener while staying safe at home. DEEP will be providing e-resources so people can participate in #EarthDayEveryDay anywhere they are.

“As we approach the 50th Anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement, while social distancing in our homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important to be mindful of the home we all share,” DEEP Commissioner Katie Dykes said. “That home is under threat, and is already changing as a result of the climate crisis.  On this Earth Day, DEEP’s #EarthDayEveryDay campaign is an opportunity to connect with nature and our shared mission of environmental protection and conservation.”

As part of the campaign, DEEP will be sharing e-resources such as links to talks or Facebook live events conducted by DEEP staff, peer agencies, and other organizations engaged in environmentally-focused work.

To follow and engage with the campaign, follow us on Twitter @CTDEEPNews, and keep an eye out for posts with the hashtag, #EarthDayEveryDay!
